Calling all public education supporters and advocates!

No experience necessary. You are already an expert.

Location: wherever you are

Time: NOW!

Individual school fundraising is often seen as a necessary and central role for PTAs. And yet, if we truly want to make public education the best it can be and fight for education justice for ALL of the students in our districts, states, and country, we MUST dedicate our energy and individual choices toward creating a system where PTA funding and charity aimed at individual schools is not necessary to support excellent educational experiences for every student! As a common good, public education is an important part of the backbone of our society. How you vote and what you communicate to your family, neighbors, friends, elected officials, local education leaders, and school administration have a direct and important impact on public education.

At Blanton PTA, we recognize that our work is not limited to fundraisers or to supporting only the students at our campus. And we know that not everyone is in a position to give monetary support or is geographically close enough to volunteer their time. As such, we want to encourage you in other ways that you can support our school and public education overall.

TAKE ACTION!

  • If you are registered and feel safe doing so, you can VOTE for candidates who believe in and support public education.
  • You can CONTACT elected officials at all levels of government, school district, local, state, and federal, to make your priorities around public education known! Our representatives WORK FOR US and paid school district leadership are paid by our tax dollars! If you live in Texas, you can use your address to find your state and federal elected representatives here.
  • You can JOIN advocacy groups in your area working to support public education or any other social justice efforts that support your community. Anything that improves living conditions for the folks living around us will also make education stronger and more effective!
  • Many PTAs have advocacy groups, and if your local school doesn’t, maybe YOU can start one! (National PTA, Texas PTA)
